It was a beautiful Friday night for the Jack Johnson, Rogue Wave, and Neil Halstead show at Capitol Federal Park @ Sandstone. Neil Halstead opened the show with songs from his record Oh! Mighty Engine. Rogue Wave, label mates of Halstead and Jack Johnson, performed next.

Johnson also brought along his Green Village which consisted of a series of tents with information about green living, organizations and ways to get involved. Cap Fed Park couldn’t have been happier with the turn out of green supporters and volunteers.

As expected, the Jack Johnson show had a great and positive atmosphere paired with beautiful weather. It was a fantastic way to wind down summer.

I haven’t been to sandstone in several years for a concert and after the Jack Johnson concert disappointment I won’t plan on returning again.

    The good:
    1) Jack Johnson sounded great as expected

    The Bad:
    1) No blankets or backpacks allowed! This was not listed on the website. The blanket rule you find at the pay gate for parking. The backpack rule is anounced at the ticket gate. Never been to an outdoor concert where blankets weren’t allowed, especially considering it had rained the night before. You can bring big purses but can’t use a backpack to carry a sweatshirt for later? Had to walk back to my car to put our backpack away.

    2) Sandstone didn’t turn the back speakers on for those of us that sat in the back until half way through the Jack Johnson performance.

    3) Had to listen to 2 opening bands that each played for 1 hour. Jack didn’t come out until 9:15 pm.

Sandstone needs to get their rules on what you can or can’t bring identified before you make it to the ticket gate! I won’t return.
