Green Initiatives

Our Vision

Our vision for Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is to create an independently certified green complex that places the fan at the center of an improved social, recreational and environmental space. We are planning to implement an array of Green Initiatives for the 2008 concert season. Watch the Sandstone Blog for news and updates on our Green Initiatives program.

Reduce Paper Usage
  • Replace all paper towel usage with high effi ciency hand dryers in restrooms and concession stands.
Utilize Recycled Materials
  • Recycled toilet paper in all restrooms.
  • Recycled paper for all office needs.
  • Recycled napkins and plates at all concessions.
Energy & Conservation
  • Energy Star compliant Lighting that takes advantage of existing light to reduce energy consumption.
  • The possibility of architectural wind turbines to generate power.
Recycling
  • Implement a recycling program by providing multiple plastic & paper recycling receptacles placed appropriately around the venue.
Raise Employees Awareness
  • Train employees in the ways of Energy Conservation and Recycling.
  • Conserve energy by turning off computers, electronic devices and un-needed lights.
Encourage Online Purchases
  • Educate concert-goers about the environmental benefits of purchasing tickets online.
  • Provide incentives to buy tickets online.
Cell Phone Recycling
  • Fans will be able to recycle used cell phones on site.
Compost Plan
  • Create a compost area for all items that can be recycled.
  • Plant a garden to grow vegetables for Sandstone caterers to prepare catered events.
Carpool & Alternative Fueled Vehicle Incentives

For some shows, Sandstone Amphitheater will be able to provide:

  • Free parking for cars who carpool with four or more passengers.
  • Free parking if you are driving an alternative fuel vehicle.
  • Conveniently located bike racks to encourage concert-goers to choose conservation-friendly modes of transportation.
