Mix 93.3’s 13th Annual Red White and Boom is Saturday June 28th. This year’s show features Lifehouse, Gavin DeGraw, Boys Like Girls, Metro Station, Blake Lewis, Ferras, The Last Goodnight, DJ Kirby, and the winner of Mix 93’s Battle of the Bands Competition. Tickets go on sale Saturday May 3rd at 10am through all Ticketmaster Outlets and www.ticketmaster.com.

Sandstone Concert Announcement: Mayhem Festival

Mayhem Festival

The Mayhem Festival featuring Slipknot and Disturbed comes to Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone Tuesday, July 22nd.  The show begins at 2:00pm. Tickets to the concert are $48, and are on sale Saturday May 3rd through all Ticketmaster Outlets and www.ticketmaster.com.

EARTH DAY ~ APRIL 22, 2008, Kansas City, Ks – “It will be CAPITOL FEDERAL PARK at SANDSTONE. Capitol Federal is the new Title sponsor of Sandstone. Their financial commitment provides the opportunity to enhance Sandstone in creating an all new concert experience to meet the social conscious awareness and philosophy of the world today” remarked Chris Fritz, President, New West Presentations, who is running the revitalization of the former Sandstone, located in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

“Capitol Federal is proud to partner with Sandstone to provide not only a venue for entertainment for our community, but also an opportunity to foster awareness and education about Green Initiatives that will impact the local and global environment for years to come.” remarked John Dicus, President and CEO of Capitol Federal.
The Unified Government ratified a two-year contract agreement in January and the Sandstone staff have been diligently making changes to create a space that offers “Green” opportunities that will improve the walkways, seating, stage plazas, Sandstone Club, concession areas and enhance the layout of the outdoor venue.
Sandstone’s partners include businesses and organizations that actively support their Green Initiatives and include Bridging the Gap, Greenability Magazine, Budweiser, and Music Matters.
The outdoor entertainment venue opened in 1984 as the Sandstone Center for the Performing Arts and will kick off Sandstone Concerts in June. and will include: Mix 93’s 13th Annual Red, White, & Boom, (6/28), Vans Warped Tour (7/2), 311 & Snoop Dog (7/10). Yallapalooza (7/11), O.A.R. (7/20), Mayhem Tour featuring Slipknot & Disturbed (7/22), Jack Johnson (8/15).

Five Green Things: Green Button Campaign

Sandstone Amphitheater is partnering with Bridging the Gap to promote the Five Green Things campaign.  Bridging The Gap has chosen five specific actions that everyone in Kansas City can do to reduce CO2 emissions and clean up our community. Making these changes will reduce your household’s emissions by at least 4,000 pounds — that’s over 15 percent!1) Give up bottled water: Average household reduction of CO2 emissions: 216 pounds a year2) Wash your laundry in cold water: Average household reduction of CO2 emissions: 327 pounds a year3) Switch to compact fluorescent lightbulbs: Average household reduction of CO2 emissions: 566 pounds a year4) Set thermostat at 68° in winter, 78° in summer: Average household reduction of CO2 emissions: 553 pounds a year5) Cut your gasoline use by one quarter:  Average single car reduction of CO2 emissions: 2500 pounds a yearVisit the Bridging the Gap website to learn more about the campaign and to register we will track your progress, give you information to help you make these changes, and give you more actions to take when you’re ready.
