Memorial weekend was full of food, fun and philanthropy at Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone. The Great American BBQ was a success hosting over 200 competing bbq teams, from all over the United States. Teams as far as California, Texas, Florida and North Dakota visited Cap Fed Park for their chance to win the grand prize.
It wasn't just the BBQ experts that enjoyed a fun weekend, the venue was open to the public to enjoy great BBQ, carnival rides, live music and fireworks. The GABBQ kicked off at 12pm on Friday and ended at 8pm on Sunday evening. There was the smell of BBQ for miles.
The Great American Barbecue was created in 2004, by a group of committed carnivores with a taste for BBQ and a desire for helping local charities. Since its creation, The GABBQ has become one of the premiere barbecue competitions in the nation.
