The Bonner Springs Police Department and Sandstone Amphitheater have teamed up with metropolitan area law enforcement agencies to produce the 12th annual Kansas City Metropolitan Area DARE Festival. Sandstone Amphitheater is donating the use of the amphitheater for a celebration of your students’ decision to be drug and violence free. This is the 12th annual festival and is the longest running bi-state DARE Festival. Last year over 80 elementary schools participated in the festival. The police department is hoping to increase that number and include your school in the festival.
The festival is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The gates will open at 10:00 a.m. There is no admittance fee and parking is free. Only DARE students who have completed the DARE instruction during the 2009-2010 school year are invited.
Festivities tentatively to include:
- RETRO BILL serving as Master of Ceremonies
- DARE Students choirs from Kansas & Missouri Schools
- Guest Speakers from the Attorney Generals Office
- Area Sports Mascots & Possibly Players
- Dance Teams
- A Police Band
