Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is an 18,000 capacity outdoor amphitheater located in Bonner Springs, KS (Kansas City, KS). Previously known as Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone is under new management, New West Presentations, Inc. and is ready to make this a fan friendly environment.

Marketing / Sponsorship Intern

The Marketing & Sponsorship intern will assist with all aspects of Marketing & Sponsorship tasks for the summer concert series at Capitol Federal Park @ Sandstone Amphitheater. Capitol Federal Park @ Sandstone is an 18,000 seat amphitheater located in Bonner Springs, KS just a short drive from downtown Kansas City. This position is based out of the Uptown Theater offices in Kansas City, MO.

Marketing/Sponsorship intern will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Assisting in sponsorship fulfillment duties during shows
  • Responsible for assisting the sponsorship department with prospecting, proposal creation, contracts, and various other tasks as assigned
  • Managing sponsor recap project throughout the season
  • Assisting with non-traditional ticket distribution

Necessary skills to adequately perform these tasks must include:

  • An above average understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar computer knowledge.
  • Excellent organization and detail-oriented skill sets.
  • Able to work long hours in various conditions and situations.
  • Previous experience in Marketing is preferred.
  • Interest in a career in sales is desired but not required.
  • Must have an outgoing personality and work well with others.
  • Interns are expected to be on time to work, be self-motivated and to handle multiple tasks with ease.

This is a non-paid internship program.  Work is preferred to be for college credit, but not required. Work schedule can be tailored to fit outside job needs but preference must be given to be available on all event days.  The program is a summer internship but can be tailored to fit fall requirements as well.

Operations / Production Internship

This internship will assist in various aspects of the daily functions related to show presentation for Capitol Federal Park @ Sandstone. This is a non-paid internship program.  Work is to be “For Credit” and approved through your college or university. Work schedule can be tailored to fit outside job needs but preference must be given to be available on all event days.  The program is a “Summer” internship but can be tailored to fit Spring and or Fall requirements as well.

The Operations/Production Intern will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Assisting the Production Management team in the advancing of shows with bands, management and touring personnel on their show production needs.
  • Working side by side on the Day of Show with these same groups as well as the various venue departments including Production, Marketing, Sponsorship, Administration and Ticketing.
  • Assist in the Venue Operations including coordination of maintenance duties, rental needs, sponsorship and media on-site implementations and staffing.

Necessary skills to adequately perform these tasks must include:

  • Basic knowledge of the music/event production, theater or similar background.
  • Ability to adapt to working with new people and challenges on each show.
  • An above average understanding of Word, Excel or similar computer knowledge.
  • Excellent organization and detail oriented skill sets and able to handle multiple tasks at any given time.
  • Customer service and quality phone skills to deal with the general public in various functions and needs.
  • Able to work long hours in various conditions and situations.
